evolution is defined as the changes that happen in the progression of an idea, a species, or a person. This type of change requires the strength of  an individual that has the ability to rise above what is assumed to be acceptable. For me, this individual was my Battle. Battle laid the ground work to enable each of my future dogs to have the opportunity to move forward without being blocked by the limitations of stereotypes. Battle proved that a groendendael could move forward. Regardless to his success with his ability to work, Battle was able to have success in conformation and work in community service. Battle was the type of dog that would go beyond his limitations to accomplish what I requested from him. If I asked him to retrieve a fish, Battle would fight the ocean's raging current to bring me back a whale. His total reward was in my pleasure and my unfaltering faith in him. He worked as a breed ambassador in public educational events at expos, schools, country fairs, and community service events. Including both USA and Mexico, I had started to gain his legs in obedience, conformation points, and assorted working titles. I had plans to obtain all his titles in the different sports we had trained in. I had wanted to finish his titles in obedience and gain the titles for the other sports we had been training for: french ring sport, schutzhund, tracking, and soon get more serious in herding. There were so many goals I had wanted to complete with Battle, but the best laid plans don't always have the opportunity to be fulfilled. Sometimes it isn't the conquest, but the journey that is the true reward. With Battle's struggles to prove his ability to work, do community service, to be an exceptional groenendael, and rise above common stereotypes, Battle has opened a new world of opportunities for every other groenendael after him. Each of my dogs have benefited by what Battle had accomplished in such a short period of time. Everything I have is a directly responsible to the heart and determination of my little Battleheart.
